The cutting edge technologies and innovation can improve the efficiency of tax administrations. We all need to keep a close eye on latest technologies which bring both challenges and opportunities to our work. Considering the development of digital economy and information technology in BRI jurisdictions, an in-depth analysis on digital transformation of tax administrations is of great value to enhance capacity of tax administration and facilitate the establishment of a growth-friendly tax environment.
At the seminar, Mrs. Tuma Adama Gento-Kamara, Board Chairperson of National Revenue Authority of Sierra Leone and Mr. Jeffrey Owens, Director of WU Global Tax Policy Center presented insights in new technologies of digitalization. Mr. Babatunde Oladapo, Executive Secretary of West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) shared some West African countries’ experience on digitalization of tax service and Mr. Wang Likun, representative of STA, China, introduced electronic tax bureau construction in China. Mr. Christian Kaeser, Chairman of Commission on Taxation International Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Ali Ehsani, Head of Smart Data Exploitation and Data Governance Group of Iranian National Tax Administration reflected on protection and control of tax-related data security.
Participants were attentive at the conference, actively participated in the online polls and had extensive exchanges with speakers on key topics and issues.
This is the last virtual seminar held by the BRITACOM this year and more seminars will be organized on the topics listed in Nur-Sultan Action Plan (2022-2024) next year to facilitate communication among tax administrations of BRI jurisdictions to build a growth-friendly tax environment.
